What Is S.M.?

The Beginning
The Original Sound Masters Crew is an organization of musically talented disc jockies and party people who specialize in making love, money and music. Founded in 1978 by The Great Doc-"P" (left) in Westchester NY's "Green Money" Greenburgh, the S.M. phenomenom quickly spread to Connecticut. In the year 1983 at The University of Hartford, Doc-"P" met up with The Grand Wizard Stevie 'D' (right) of New Haven's Action Crew, and the rest would become history.
The Transition
The next few years would mark the beginning of a transition period for S.M. Over 50 members strong, the group would streamline to a nucleus of 5 consisting of The Great Doc-"P", The Grand Wizard Stevie 'D', Unique Jamal, Bert Oats, and Eternal Love. In coming years the group would undergo even more streamlining, leaving just Doc-"P" on the mic and Stevie 'D' on the turntables.
The Present
Currently The Grand Wizard Stevie 'D' and the Great Doc-"P" are among the top nightclub and radio mixshow DJ's in the country. Formerly "The S.M. Freak Show" and "The S.M. Show", "The S.M. Experience" has become their internationally known trademark nightclub show. Also quickly gaining in popularity around the world are the S.M. Episode Tapes and CDs, with the most recent Episode currently available free by joining the S.M. mailing list.
Formerly the hosts of New Haven's top rated mixshow The Friday Night Dance Party on WYBC 94.3 FM with Weird News anchor Frank T, Doc-"P" and Stevie 'D' put the station on the map. As a result of the instant success of The Friday Night Dance Party, Stevie 'D' took over all of the station's music programming in December of 1998, earning WYBC it's first and only number one Arbitron rating to date in the fall of 1999. WYBC continued to rank among the market's top 3 rated stations until the departure of Stevie 'D' in March of 2001 when WYBC changed formats and became an Oldies station. In August of 2002 Doc-"P" took on the position of Promotions Director at WYBC, with Stevie 'D' returning to the station's airwaves the following month as the DJ for "The Old School Drive at 5" hosted by Juan Castillo weekdays from 5-6pm. Stevie 'D' remained in this position until the fall of 2004. From the fall of 2003 until the fall of 2005 Stevie 'D' and Doc-"P" could also be heard breaking new music in the mix Saturday nights on the market's top rated "Club YBC".
Presently S.M. is turning it's concentration back to it's original goal, and once again becoming active with studio projects. This is now the time when S.M. will show the world that it is a force to be reckoned with as producers and recording artists. That doesn't mean S.M. is giving up the club scene though; S.M. will soon be coming to a club near you.
